Away with love/do away with love, away with love Do away with love/enough is enough She stood in my room Tall and silent, what else could I do? Say I'll stay with you? Do we Do away with love? A way to love/I need a way to love, a way to love Allay my fears/when you're not here, you're not here Oh, I waited in the bar, So I wondered where the hell you are What more can I say? Say I'll stay with you? Then what more can I do? Do we Do away with love? Away Now I suppose/that's how it goes, that's how it goes You lose a few/some by a nose, some by a nose Oh, I waited in the hall You call and she answers, it's true What am I supposed to do? I'm in love with her, and not with you What more can I say? Say I'll stay with you? And what else is there now? Do we And what else is there now? Do we Do away with love? Away

I can't sleep tonight Everybody's saying everything is alright Still I can't close my eyes I'm seeing a tunnel at the end of all these lights Sunny days Where have you gone? I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning I can't stand myself I'm being held up by invisible men Still life on a shelf when I got my mind on something else Sunny days Oh where have you gone? I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning Oh where did the blue sky go? Why is it raining so? It's so cold I can't sleep tonight Everybody's saying everything is alright Still I can't close my eyes I'm seeing a tunnel at the end of all these lights Sunny days Oh where have you gone? I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning Oh where did the blue sky go? And why is it raining so? It's so cold Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning Why does it always rain on me? Why? Why does it always rain on, rain on me?

Getaway Car 02:38
I want to be your getaway car When you need escape I'm never too far They won't get you behind bars Yeah 'cause I'm gonna be your getaway car Take you far away from here I'll take you where the air is clear and you could get a little sun I want to be your getaway car Yeah, I want to be the trick up your sleeve You pull me out whenever you need We'll do things they won't believe Yeah, I wanna be the trick up your sleeve Take you far away from here Take you where the air is clearer You can get a little sun I'm wanna be your getaway car 'Cause I'm OK with things not being OK I'll take you far away from here I'll take you where the air is clear and you could get a little sun I want to be your getaway car When you need escape I'm never too far Hey, hey, hey, they won't get you behind bars Oh 'cause I'm gonna be your getaway car I'm OK with things not being OK

Feel like I been stretched out All the way down the road Hard to pull the best out From the pain I chose I know things don’t always work out And life sure teaches you how to adjust But I had dreams that shone like diamonds Run through my hands like so much dust Well my wine turned back to water Still won’t quench my thirst No strength of will can honor What some called the voodoo curse There’s times when I was lying Now I’m satisfied to make a crust I had dreams that shone like diamonds Run through my hands like so much dust Long days drifted down Towards the starting place The scars from all I found Showed clearly on my face I know bad things can happen And I know sometimes they come at you in a rush I had dreams that shone like diamonds Run through my hands like so much dust

Pills 02:58
As I was lyin' in a hospital bed A rock n roll nurse goin' to my head Said, hold out your arm, boy, stick out your tongue I gots some pills I wanna give you some She went to my head, to my head Rock n roll nurse, goin' to my head To my head, to my head 'Cause I was lyin' in a hospital bed A little pill for my legs, but they don't ache Tried some pills for my heart, just a little to late Tried some pills for my love, to give me the ease The rock n roll nurse shook me to my knees She went to my head, to my head A rock n roll nurse, goin' to my head To my head, to my head 'Cause I was lyin' in a hospital bed Nursey nursey, well I don't see I can't understand what you're doin' to me Said you give me the pills, then you give me a shot You got me wonderin' just what I got And she went to my head, to my head A rock n roll nurse, goin' to my head To my head, to my head 'Cause I was lyin' in a hospital bed Well doctor, doctor, come here and see I don't think the job the nurse is givin' to me She gives me the shots, gives me the pills I'm takin' all this junk against my will To my head, to my head A rock n roll nurse, goin' to my head To my head, to my head I was lyin' in a hospital bed Ooh, the rock and roll nurse Ooh, she's the worst

Free To Go 04:15
It must have something to do With letting go You must have something to say To me You are free to go You are free to go You are free to go There was danger in your blood Even then Now you're dying at my door Once again You were lost in your convictions And I prayed on your stolen time But you are free to go You are free to go You are free to go You are free to go

I'm a bad dream I'm not a nightmare, I'm too goody for that Let's just say I'm the last thing you wanna see coming I'm the reason they say watch your back For so long, I was like a wounded hound Backed into a chain link fence The world at large was just a big, mean kid Poking me through the fence with a stick Ain't nobody goin' back It takes a whole lotta hurt Paralyze one of life's biggest lessons Ain't got nothin' to do with dessert Just pray to the Saint of Lost Causes It's a cruel world It ain't hard to understand You got your sheep, got your shepherds Got your wolves amongst men It can be hard to tell You might find a wolf in shepherd's clothes Now and then you're gonna find sheep In amongst all those troubled souls You know the folks that's most afraid of the wolf If you really stop and think Throughout time, between a wolf and a shepherd Who do you think has killed more sheep? Nah, there's nothing can be done It's just the way it goes First you get bad, then you get mean Then there's nothing left but to grow cold And pray to the Saint of Lost Causes Some will say I've got no feeling No heart and surely no shame Truth is that this has been with me so long That I must admit I kinda like the pain How many encounters do you ever have? But again, how many wolves you ever seen? You got about as much chance of seeing one of them As you do running into me Still take nothing for granted Might live on the best block in Beverly Hills Be sure you lock up tight at night 'Cause you know poor folks ain't got nothing to steal Just pray to the Saint of Lost Causes

Halfway there, or maybe I'm mostways gone It's neither here nor there because when I'm on I'm on On an un-negotiable turning point Please turn it on It's the merrily humming happy machine Don't need to think, just feeling serene Nothing to say it's so quiet upstairs Wind blows through, don't notice, don't care While the world careens ah oh If one day's bad, another day is way too long All of those hours, man, with just your thoughts and awful songs And what you're looking for is sweet oblivion Well don't we all Want the merrily humming happy machine Can't really think, just feeling serene There's nothing to say, it's so quiet upstairs Wind blows through, don't notice, don't care While the world careens ah oh What you're looking for is sweet oblivion Well don't you all Want the merrily humming happy machine Can't really think, just feeling serene Got nothing to say, so quiet upstairs The wind blows through, don't notice, don't care While the world careens ah oh ahah oh ahah oh

Thunderbird 02:54
Why don’t you come over here Help me drink this Thunderbird Why don’t you come over here Help me drink this Thunderbird I bought two quarts this morning On my way to work And if I drink them by myself My head is gonna hurt Why don’t you come over here Help me drink this Thunderbird Why don’t you come over here Help me drink this Thunderbird That stuff, it makes me crazy As silly as it gets I might just pull my pants down And smoke some cigarettes Why don’t you come over here Help me drink this Thunderbird Why don’t you come over here Help me drink this Thunderbird Why don’t you come over Help me drink this Thunderbird Why don’t you come over We don’t even need a corkscrew We don’t need a fancy glass Drink right from the bottle if you want to Or you can stay at home and kiss my ass Last time we got stupid And punched holes in my wall And when my landlord saw that He punched us in our jaws Why don’t you come over here Help me drink this Thunderbird Why don’t you come over here Help me drink this Thunderbird We don’t even need a corkscrew We don’t need a fancy glass Drink right from the bottle if you want to Or you can stay at home and kiss my ass Why don’t you come over here Help me drink this Thunderbird Why don’t you come over here Help me drink this Thunderbird Why don’t you come over Help me drink this Thunderbird Why don’t you come over

Ghostland 03:57
Once I thought I loved you for sure But of course I let myself down And where your door was open to me No one is there anymore I have found And so I fade away into the ghostland Soon I’ll disappear and nothing’s left behind Memories are blind to me now Pages from an unwritten book And all the magic that we used to share Cannot be found wherever I look And so I fade away into the ghostland Soon I’ll disappear and nothing’s left behind Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, I’ll find a way to outlive this sorrow. And so I fade away into the ghostland Soon I'll disappear and nothing's left behind

Barstool 05:10
I’m so tired of making mistakes Of course I’m too poor To drink away this heartache One night I was lucky to get liquored up Fell off a barstool Didn’t know which end was up Was listening to the banjo And the Gipsy Kings My head split wide open My heart still hurting The only thing I could do Was self destruct Wallow in my teardrops And shed a little blood And from my barstool My love for you was made new And from my barstool I fell again for you I’m so tired of singing sad songs And being far away From where it is I belong One day, maybe I’ll hit the interstate Put it in fifth gear And head on back to the Tarheel state Put away the bourbon And the hard times Start with that first kiss And give it another try And listen to your heart play A banjo tune Not the one that brought me down But the one that took me back me to you From my barstool My love for you is made new From my barstool I fell again for you From my barstool I fell again for you From my barstool I fell again for you I fell again for you I fell again for you I fell again for you

Late 04:24
Under some dirty words on a dirty wall Eatin' takeout by myself I played the show Got back in the van and put the Walkman on And you were playing In some other dive a thousand miles away I've played a thousand times before And like pathetic stars, the truck stops, and the rock club walls I always knew You saw them too But you never will again Steve Ruppenthal, you played a fine guitar And some lousy basketball The songs you wrote Got me through a lot I just need to tell you that Things were looking up Least that's what I heard Something came and washed away your hard-earned Peace of mind When desperate static beats the silence up A quiet truth to calm you down The songs you wrote Got me through a lot I just need to tell you that But it's too late It's too late

Manic depression is touching my soul I know what I want, but I just don't know How to go about getting it Feeling, sweet feeling Drops, drops from my fingers Manic depression is catching my soul Woman so weary, the sweet cause in vain You make love and you break love It's all the same When it's over Music, sweet music I wish I could caress Manic depression is a frustrating mess Well I think I'll go turn myself off and go on down Really ain't no, really ain't no use in me hanging around, no Music, sweet music I wish I could caress Manic depression's a frustrating mess

Something’s gotta come my way Baby believe me It’s the same old song That I’ve been singing so long Sooner or later now Maybe on some sunny day Baby believe it If it goes all wrong Don’t leave me alone Sooner or later now I don’t care what people say I’m not worried I’m not afraid Hope I ain’t standing your way Oh I don’t owe nobody nothing I ain’t trying to explain Maybe you’ll see it my way Sooner or later now Baby things keep falling apart Please believe me Cross my heart You crossed my mind Sooner or later now Just waiting on some kind of change Baby believe it If you’re willing to hold on Just don’t lead me on Sooner or later now I don’t care what people say I’m not worried I’m not afraid I’m not standing your way Oh I don’t owe nobody nothing I ain’t trying to explain Maybe you’ll see it my way But sooner or later now Took advantage of your patience and trust Baby believe me I know it’s been hard But we’ve made it this far Sooner or later now Things have gotta work out for us Baby believe it It’s the same old song That I’ve been singing so long Sooner or later now

Ruby Beach 04:10
You've got a pair of eyes that look like jewels of Ruby Beach I know the days go by and they're not always so sweet Now we're trying to get by I like your necklace, where'd it come from? It's gold and it's square I know that lately there's just something hanging in the air It'll pass, I swear It'll come around now, baby It'll come around It'll come around now, baby It'll come around Water goes up and down and It'll come around It'll come around now, baby It'll come around Building our own tomorrows, and if the forecast pours We can wait forever on the golden shores And I guess it can't get much worse When the clouds break, sun will burst through It'll come around now, baby It'll come around It'll come around now, baby It'll come around Stars go up and down and It'll come around It'll come around now, baby It'll come around

There was a light so dear to me I wanted to live There was a time so near to me I asked you to give your life to me And if it's a sign sent down to me I'm asking you why it had to be Spending all my time Waiting to die What's the use Spending all my time Waiting to die What's the use There was a light so dear to me I wanted to live There was a time so dear to me I asked you to give your life to me

Fearless 05:13
You say the hill's too steep to climb Chiding You say you'd like to see me try Climbing You pick the place and I'll choose the time And I'll climb the hill in my own way Just wait a while for the right day And as I rise above the treelines and the clouds I look down hearing the sound of the things you said today Fearlessly, the idiot faced the crowd Smiling Merciless, the magistrate turns around Frowning And who's the fool who wears the crown? Go down in your own way And everyday is the right day And as you rise above the fear lines in his brow You look down Hear the sound of the faces in the crowd

To say goodbye touch me deep inside Babe i hope its not farewell You can count on me when it’s a friend you need All the same I hope it all goes well Now be good to yourself every day and every night Pick yourself a girl who can begin to treat you right Be true to one another ‘till your dying day May the sun shine down you way You know the times we had been far from bad And i hope we’ll come together once again Until that time we just say goodbye I'll remember you ‘till the very end So be good to yourself every day and every night Pick yourself a girl who can begin to treat you right Be true to one another ‘till your dying day May the sun shine down you way So be good to yourself every day and every night Pick yourself a girl who can begin to treat you right Be true to one another ‘till your dying day May the sun shine down you way

Here's wishing you the bluest sky And hoping something better comes tomorrow Hoping all the verses rhyme And the very best of choruses, too Follow all the doubt and sadness I know that better things are on the way Here's hoping all the days ahead Won't be as bitter as the ones behind you Be an optimist instead And somehow happiness will find you Forget what happened yesterday I know that better things are on the way It's really good to see you rocking out and having fun Living like you just begun Accept your life and what it brings I hope tomorrow you'll find better things I know tomorrow you'll find better things Here's wishing you the bluest sky And hoping something better comes tomorrow Hoping all the verses rhyme And the very best of choruses, too Follow all the doubt and sadness I know that better things are on the way I know you've got a lot of good things happening up ahead The past is gone, it's all been said So here's to what the future brings I know tomorrow you'll find better things I know tomorrow you'll find better things
